PARKWAY YOUTH HOCKEY TRY OUT REGISTRATION

Tryouts for 2017-2018 PYH travel teams (listed below) will be held from March 6 - March 16, 2017 at the Roche Rink (West Roxbury).  A more detailed schedule with individual team try out sessions dates and times will be posted soon after registration closes and after the number of players trying out is finalized.  On ice evaluations will be conducted by Pro Ambitions, Inc. with PYH coaches and volunteers coordinating and running the on ice sessions.

All players interested in trying out for a PYH Travel Team must register through our website starting Monday February 20, 2017 through Thursday March 2, 2017.  Please register as soon as possible.  Late registrants (those who register after Thursday March 2, 2017) will be charged a $50 late fee.  This late fee will not be applied towards tuition and is not refundable.

Please visit the online registration system on our website for sign up instructions and descriptions of our Travel team programs:   http://registration.parkwayyouthhockey.org/

TEAM SELECTION & POSTING

Tryouts and travel team selections will be carried out according to PYH’s Travel Team Composition Policy and Procedures. http://leagueathletics.com/Page.asp?n=151951&org=PARKWAYYOUTHHOCKEY.ORG

Travel team rosters will be posted after the conclusion of the current travel hockey season and playoffs, approximately mid-April.  From the end of tryouts until rosters are posted coaches will be chosen and the travel team selection process will be taking place.

Please note, players are not guaranteed a spot of a travel team by trying out; some players may not be assigned to a travel team due to the number of players/teams at a given level in a given year.  Every effort shall be made to place a player in a PYH program or team should they not be assigned to a travel team.

TRY OUT COSTS FOR VALLEY HOCKEY LEAGUE & MIDDLESEX YANKEE CONFERENCE TEAMS

The cost to try out for a VHL Mite, Squirt, Peewee, Bantam, or a Middlesex Yankee Conference Girls U10, U12, or U14 travel team is $300.  Players placed on a travel team and who participate on that team for the upcoming season will have all $300 applied to the tuition costs.  Final tuition costs of travel teams will be determined by the PYH Board of Directors at a later date after league registration and game fees have been forwarded to PYH.

HALF SEASON MIDGETS, GIRLS U18/19, FULL SEASON MIDGETS

The cost to try out for a half season Midget or half season Girls U18/19 team is a $600 registration fee which is applied towards tuition for the upcoming season.  Try out sessions for these teams will occur after the completion of try outs for the other levels on dates that will be announced later.  Players who make a team and choose not to participate on that team must send an email to parkwayyouthhockey@gmail.com before April 30, 2017 in order to be eligible for a $500 refund.  Notifications made after April 30, 2017 after will not be eligible for a refund.  Late fees are not refundable.  Formats and final tuition costs of all Midget teams and Girls U18/19 teams will be determined by the PYH Board of Directors at a later date after league registration and game fees have been forwarded to PYH.

Registration for the 2017-18 Full Season Quincy Midget team will also be available as of February 20th.  The registration fee is $400.  There is no tryout for this team.

SPECIAL MESSAGE ON MITE TRAVEL

PYH has been notified this month by Mass Hockey, our governing body, that it will no longer be able to sanction full ice games at the Mite travel level for its affiliated programs beginning next season http://www.mahockey.org/news_article/show/757197?referrer_id=662793.

Programs operating under Mass Hockey must only offer half-ice or cross ice games.  For the past two seasons, PYH has sponsored one Mite travel team within the Valley Hockey League and has also placed teams in the Town Line League.  The PYH Board has begun to explore potential options for Mite level travel teams among available programs and will pass along additional information as it becomes available.  Unless otherwise determined by the PYH Board the tryout currently scheduled will be to select one Mite VHL team for the 2017-2018 season, with the remaining players playing in the Town Line League.

PRIOR BALANCES -

If your child participated in one of our House programs or Travel teams this year, then you already have an account in our system.  Please do not create a new one.  If you have a problem logging in, please make sure that you are using the correct email address (i.e. work, home, spouse's email address, etc.).

Final tuition payments for the current 2016-2017 season (and any prior balances) are due in full and need to be paid before tryouts.  Please note that players with outstanding balances will not be assigned to a try out session until the balance is paid in full, and may not be placed on a travel team roster for the 2017-2018 season.

Please note, currently more than $90,000.00 remains outstanding to PYH in travel and house program fees for this season. Like you, PYH must meet its monthly expenses in order to operate successfully. These expenses include ice costs, skills sessions and game league fees. We appreciate your cooperation in this regard.

Please email us at parkwayyouthhockey@gmail.com if you have any questions about any balance information that you see on the website.  Parkway Youth Hockey does offer limited financial assistance and payment plans for tuition costs if it is needed.

REFUNDS

Players who make a travel team and choose not to participate on that team must notify PYH by email no later than Friday March 31, 2017 that your child will not be playing for a PYH Travel Team for the upcoming season.  All notifications must be made in writing and sent to PYH at:  parkwayyouthhockey@gmail.com in order to be eligible for a refund.

  • A player or family submitting an email notification received by PYH on or before Friday March 31, 2017 will be eligible for a $250 refund.

  • A player or family submitting an email notification received by PYH after Friday March 31, 2017 will not be eligible for a refund of any portion of the try out fee.

If you have any questions about the above, please reach out to one of your current coaches or a member of the Board.

Thank you and best of luck with try outs and the remainder of this season!

    PYH Board of Directors

Dear Parkway Youth Hockey League Members -

As required by PYHL's by-laws, nominations for seven (7) positions on the Board of Directors will be accepted from members of Parkway Youth Hockey at the March 14, 2017 Board meeting scheduled for 7:00PM at the Community Room of the District E Police Station (adjacent to the Holy Name rotary).  The Board election shall take place at PYHL's annual meeting April 11, 2017

The 15 members of the Board of Directors are elected by the voting members of PYHL and serve terms of two years, beginning on May 1st of the year in which such Director is elected.  This year seven (7) members of the Board shall be elected.  The Directors manage the operation of PYHL programs and it is a volunteer position.

At the time of the election a voting member is entitled to cast a vote in favor of as many nominees as there are vacant Board seats. Those nominees receiving the highest number of votes shall be elected to the Board. In the event of a tie in the vote of the membership for election of the final member of the Board of Directors in any given year, the existing members of the Board of Directors will vote between or among the persons whose election resulted in the tied vote, and by such vote the Board of Directors will break the tie and elect the final member of the Board.

If the number of nominees is less than the number of seats to be filled by election, no election by the members will need to be held and all nominees shall be deemed elected. Vacancies on the Board of Directors, due to resignation, removal, lack of a sufficient number of nominees or otherwise, shall be filled by election by a majority of the Board of Directors.

Please contact a PYH Board Member if you are interested in seeking nomination to the election ballot.

Thank you for your continued participation.

Dear Parkway Youth Hockey Parents,

Roxbury Latin is proud of its growing association with Parkway Youth Hockey, and I am writing to let you know about opportunities for your children to further their athletic and academic skills on RL’s campus this summer. We will be conducting six 4-day athletic clinics (soccer, lacrosse, baseball, football, wrestling, and basketball) and six academic programs (debate, nature, crosswords, STEM, biotech, and the new Roxbury Latin Summer Institute) and we’d love to include as many boys and girls from our local neighborhood(s) as we can. Our athletic clinics have a discounted rate of $200 for Boston residents, and several of our other programs offer financial aid. For more information, or to register before programs fill up, go to https://www.roxburylatin.org/page/programs/summer-programs

Sincerely,
